||Gilgit-Baltistan Development Package
||The first meeting of the Apex Committee on Federal Development Package for Gilgit-Baltistan was held in Islamabad under the chair of Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid Khan. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Federal Secretary Planning and Development and Special Initiatives, Secretary Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Additional Secretary Ministry of Planning, Additional Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan and Advisor on Development Projects and other officials. Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid said that special attention will be given to projects in clean energy, roads, transport, health, education, skill development, tourism, private sector development, agriculture, women development and social welfare. He directed to submit feasibility reports and designs of PC-1 to the Planning Division by April 1 to ensure early approval of projects under Gilgit-Baltistan development package. Chief Minister said that priority should be given to road and transport projects for the promotion of tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan. He further said special attention should be given to integrated development in Gilgit-Baltistan in order to increase revenue of the province, create employment opportunities and enable economic growth. During the meeting, the members of the Apex Committee assured their full cooperation to design and implement projects under the development package. Assistance will also be sought from international experts to ensure better implementation of the mega development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. Special attention will also be given to the improvement of health sector in Gilgit-Baltistan. The meeting discussed the projects: establishment of commercial centers in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, provision of internet and 4G facility in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, construction of LPG Airmix project in Skardu, Hunza and Chilas, establishment of bulk oil depot in Skardu, construction of Run of the River 2.8 MW Power Project in Hunza under Public Private Partnership, establishment of Special Economic Zone in Maqpoon Das, pavilion for Gilgit Baltistan in Lok Virsa, construction of new tracks in all districts of Gilgit Baltistan, water supply project for Central Hunza, provision of employment opportunities to the youth through eco-tourism projects. In addition, the project also discussed the PSDP projects: Diversion of Shtung Nalla, 20 MW Henzel Power Project, 26 MW Shigarthang Power Project, 16 MW Naltar Hydro Power Project, 50 MW Attabad Hydropower Project, 100 MW KIU Hydropower Project, 30 MW Ghawari Hydro Power Project, Regional Grid Phase II, Construction of Jaglot-Skardu Road, Construction of Shonter Tunnel, Construction of Astore Valley Road, Shagarthang to Gorikot Inter-District Road, Chitral Shandur Highway, Extension of Skardu Road to Damsam Ghanche,Kharmang and Shigar, construction of Shahra-e Nagar, feasibility study of construction of Babusar Tunnel, construction of 60 km Darel-Tangir Valley Roads. The meeting also reviewed the under-construction PSDP projects:, 50-bed Heart Hospital, construction of 250-bed hospital in Skardu and PSDP's priority projects establishment of medical college, construction of nursing college, expansion of 250-bed hospitals to 500-bed, Upgradation of Provincial Headquarters Hospital, Plan to expansion of Chilas 200-bed hospital to 400-bed hospital, establishment of Cadet College in Ghizer, Construction of Girls Cadet College in Skardu, Teacher Training Center in Astore-Diamer Division, Construction of Minawar Industrial Zone, scientific mapping and estimation of minerals reserves in Gilgit-Baltistan, establishment of Skardu Hotel Management and Hospitality Management centre, establishment of Adventure Sports, Rock Climbing and Mountaineering Institute in Hunza, establishment of Sports Complexes in all three divisions, establishment of Museum in Gilgit for Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Water Scheme for Gilgit City, Sewerage and Sanitation Scheme for Skardu City, establishment of Multi-Skill Development Institution in Gilgit, Skardu and Diamer, Rehabilitation centres for special persons in all districts , Helpline for provision of legal assistance to deserving women and youth, establishment of Darulaman in Gilgit and Baltistan Divisions, establishment of Value Chain for local farmers, Livestock and Poultry projects under Public Private Partnership, Yak Breeding in Gilgit-Baltistan and establishment of Processing Units under Public Private Partnership.
